What becomes of the broken hearted?

We were doing the Black Death in History class.

I know it sounds a bit heavy for end-of-year but trust me, the gorier the better for a group of nine-year-olds!

Their task at the end was to create a poster that a doctor would make in order to warn the people of the symptoms and how to avoid it. I'd set this task a few years ago but of course this class had all the lingo which the past class didn't.

Mask wearing  Isolation   Quarantine  Social Distancing   Hand Sanitising

As they were creating their posters I reminded them that they should make their poster colourful in order to attract attention.

"Red is the colour of danger, so make sure you use some of that", I advised them.

"But Miss", commented one girl, " Red is also the colour of love. Does that mean Love is dangerous?"

Before I could think of an age appropriate reply, one of the lads lifted his head and proclaimed

"YES IT IS. IT CAN BREAK YOUR HEART."

Oh dear. That was far too deep and cynical from a nine year old...... even if it was true!

Expanding my Social Life

I woke up this morning at around 4.30am to hear the rain gently tapping off my window! My heart sank as I had planned to go for a cliff walk around Howth and then go for brunch with www.sociallife.ie

I immediately fell back asleep and woke again at 6.45 when the rain has reduced to a slight drizzle. There is no point in letting the rain put you  off doing anything in Ireland, because if it did then you'd never do anything.

And boy am I glad that I persevered. I had a lovely day meeting new friends in the most beautiful scenery. No wonder house prices are sky high in this area.

Week 10: Don't let the shopping bags fool you.

I was walking down the street of Mullingar with my two bags in my hands. Of course I had to meet a friend who immediately shrieked

"What are you doing with those bags? You're not supposed to be shopping!"

"I wasn't shopping. I'm just collecting my shoes and boots from the cobblers. I left them in to be

re-heeled. I'm saving the planet."

So week 10. Yipee I'm in the double digits. I'm a bit worried about the approaching summer as I haven;t needed holiday clothes for three years. And I know there's no way my clothes from 2019 will still fit me now. I'm still trying to get rid of my Covid kilos.

Week 9: One year, no new gear

This week was difficult because.........avert your eyes if you/re squemish.....I have an ingrown toenail. Yeuck!

Which means I can only wear flat, comfy shoes, which limits the choice of clothes that I can wear.

First World problems.

So here goes.

Monday: Flat white shoes.

Tues: Flat black shoes

Wed: Flattish tan boots

Flat silvery shoes.

Here's hoping I get it sorted soon!

Week 8: One year: No new gear

I can't believe I've survived two months! Just 10 more to go!

I left three pairs of shoes/boots in to be reheeled. Usually I would have thrown them out and bought new ones, but not the new echo-friendly me! I also discovered that I have two pairs of identical, I mean IDENTICAL, same brand shoes that I never knew I had.  And I don't think I've ever worn either pair.

Anyway, here's my week

Monday: Channeling my inner cowboy

Realised I shouldn't wear white jeans!

Channeling my inner Bet Lynch!

Wearing my heart on my sleeve....well actually on my chest!

It was a rainbow kinda day

Trying to glam it up a bit!
